MEMORY

Commissioned by the Ministry of Education and the Complutense University, the new building expansion of the Faculty of Biological Sciences was conceived as facade building with the intention of hiding the existing incoherent, concrete brise-soleil architecture of the present building. A lineal composition connected by a bridge with the existing building is based on a wide corridor opening onto the lecture halls and interior laboratories with a mezzanine on top for air conduct and exhaustion facilities and all services to be visited. Each department has a different distribution for every floor solved through modular coordination of structure and partitions. Orientated to the west, a grid structure of brick balconies was developed to hold glass devices for sun control.
